Dr. Petersen is an orthopaedic and neurospine surgical specialist with over twenty years in operative clinical practice.
After medical school graduation in 1990, Dr. Petersen served in the U.S. Army as a combat aviation brigade flight surgeon, as well as with NASA in support of flight shuttle missions.
Dr. Petersen’s Spinal Surgery sub-specializations are inclusive of microsurgical techniques, complex spinal revision and evaluation and repair of failed previous surgery.
His most proud accomplishments are his three now adult, independent and employed daughters. In his spare time he enjoys cooking, the great outdoors, and travelling.

Rebecca Walker is a LPN with over 20 years of experience in orthopedics, primary care, and geriatrics. She received her Medical Assisting License in 1996 and went on to receive her LPN License from Bishop State in 2000. In her free time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
Sara Cottrell, CPC joined Petersen Neurospine in December 2020 as the Business Office Coordinator. She received her CPC certification in 2006 under the American Academy of Professional Coders. Her extensive coding experiences over the last 14 years include Radiology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, General Surgery, and Trauma Surgery. Sara has been a member of the AAPC local chapter for the last 15 years. Sara has a son and daughter and is an active member in her church, Destination Church in Saraland.

Krista is a Medical Assistant with 30 years of experiences. She spent most of her career working in Pediatrics and Adult Medicine. She slowly transitioned from the clinical aspect to more of an administrative role before semi-retiring. She now works part-time in our billing department, allowing her to spend time with her grandchildren, travel with her husband and relax by the pool.
