Dr. Bendt P. Petersen is an orthopaedic and neurospine surgical specialist with over twenty years in operative clinical practice. He is a fellowship-trained surgeon whose practice is the only one in the Mobile-area devoted exclusively to the treatment of your spine.

Dr. Petersen completed his fellowship in Orthopaedic and Neurosurgical Spine Surgery as a Daniel E. Hogan Fellow at Harvard Medical School. During his time at Harvard, he was able to study new techniques as they were developed – such as the Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion.

He also served in the U.S. Army as a combat aviation brigade flight surgeon, as well as with NASA in support of flight shuttle missions.

Dr. Petersen’s Spinal Surgery sub-specializations are inclusive of microsurgical techniques, complex spinal revision and evaluation and repair of failed previous surgery.

His most proud accomplishments are his three now adult, independent and employed daughters. In his spare time he enjoys cooking, the great outdoors, and traveling.

Dr. Petersen’s goal is to do what he can to keep you from the operating room. He employs non-narcotic medication, spine-specialized physical therapy, injectable techniques, and more.
